AtlanTecRF has introduced a completely new range of test products to complement its already extensive offering of satellite simulator and loop-back systems.
The SUC range of Masthead Upconverters are designed to provide SATCOM uplink signals for a variety of applications, generated from standard L-band modem output frequencies. A variety of models are available with uplink frequency band options in S, C, X, Ku, DBS, Ka and Q bands.
Nominal conversion loss in the up-conversion is 20 dB but there is also the choice of internal amplification to provide 0 dB loss. Frequency stability is provided by an internal TCXO but where greater precision is required, the optional OCXO reference offers +/-0.05ppm temperature stability over the -10 to +50 operating temperature ranges.
Mounted on a suitable mast or structure, the Up-converter provides typical ground station transmit (Tx) frequencies which, by feeding into a suitable antenna, generates an RF beam which can be used to test transponder designs, whether destined for satellite, drone, HAPs or other communications platforms.
The new Up-converter products greatly enhance offerings of SATCOM simulation systems in providing, in the same way as AtlanTecRF has done for ground terminals, a unique method of verifying the performance of space sector transponders, whether for true satellites or for various new forms of communication platform. Supplied in a rugged weatherproof housing the SUC Upconverters are ready to install with DC power delivered via a one cable (RF+DC) connection.
