World’s First Embedded Planar Inverted-F Antenna for Wi-Fi MIMO Applications

Laird has introduced the first embedded Planar Inverted-F Antenna (PIFA) for Wi-Fi MIMO applications. The FlexMIMO is a flexible, easy-to-install 2.4/5 GHz, dual element PIFA antenna for 802.11ac/ax and 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi modules that use MIMO or Wi-Fi diversity, such as automated equipment, medical devices, and a myriad of other IoT use cases.

The flexible PIFA design provides for consistent performance across a broad array of enclosures. It also allows the antenna to adhere to flat and curved surfaces. The FlexMIMO drastically simplifies the size, cost and technical requirements for implementing the two antennas required for 802.11 MIMO radio applications, as the proper orientation and spacing between the two integrated antenna elements is already optimized for MIMO and diversity radio performance.

Key Features of the FlexMIMO Antenna

  • Two Integrated 2.4/5 GHz dual band elements specifically designed for 802.11 MIMO applications.
  • Laird’s Patented Flexible PIFA Antenna structure allows for the use of the antenna on flat and curved surfaces
  • Compact design versus the complexity of two separate antennas.
  • Low ECC Performance for best in class throughput and range performance.
  • Simple Installation with optimized antenna orientation and spacing

The FlexMIMO can be used with Laird’s 60 Series of Wi-Fi + Bluetooth modules. Click here for more information.
