Rohde & Schwarz and MediaTek have successfully carried out 5G NR signaling tests using a test setup with the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester and R&S CMX500 5G NR signaling tester from R&S and the MediaTek Helio M70 5G modem for the sub 6 GHz band. The test setup provided 5G network simulation with a signaling connection compliant with 3GPP Release 15. 5G NR will initially operate in non-standalone (NSA) mode, largely relying on existing 4G LTE infrastructure, and then migrate to standalone (SA) mode using 5G NR network infrastructure.
The R&S CMX500 5G NR signaling tester can be easily integrated into the existing Rohde & Schwarz LTE test setup. Together with the R&S CMW500 wideband communication tester, it provides a versatile test solution during R&D. The R&S CMX500 supports both SA and NSA mode. Using this future-proof setup, developers of 5G user equipment and infrastructure can quickly and reliably demonstrate and assure 5G NR compliance of their devices.
