Tune in to these Technical Sessions on Filters at IMS 2019

The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society’s 2019 IMS Microwave Week will be held from 2-7 June 2019 in Boston, Massachusetts. At IMS 2019, there will be a number of technical sessions on Filters, chaired by industry specialists which will be followed by paper presentations. If you are involved in or are looking to get involved in the design and development of filters, you must try and make it to these sessions. Here is the list of some technical sessions and papers on filters that will be presented at IMS 2019.

The session will be Chaired by Roberto Gómez-García, Universidad de Alcalá and Co-chaired by Rafaat Mansour, University of Waterloo.

Abstract: This session is composed of innovative tunable and active filters. The first paper will discuss a non-reciprocal bandpass filter using spatio-temporal modulation. In addition, a tunable six-channel diplexer with compact size will be presented. An N-path filter with frequency/code-domain filtering, a balanced-balanced tunable filtering LNA, an electronically-reconfigurable doublet topology, and a liquid-metal-tuning bandpass filter will also be presented. The following papers will be presented:

  1. Frequency/Code-Domain Filtering Using Walsh-Function Sequence Based N-Path Filters (08:00-08:20).
  2. A 1.16–3.89-GHz Tunable Six-Channel Diplexer with Compact Size and High Isolation (08:20-8:40).

The session will be Chaired by Hjalti Sigmarsson, University of Oklahoma and Co-chaired by Xiaoguang Liu, University of California, Davis.

Abstract: This session will showcase reconfigurable filters with reconfigurable transfer functions and stopbands. An innovative filter topology that enables independent tuning and seamless merging of multiple passbands will be discussed. In addition, a filter that utilizes a single tuning element to create a response with minimum variation in absolute bandwidth and Q will be presented. A novel method using dual-mode cavities to create transmission zeros, a folded ridge waveguide dual-band tunable bandstop filter, and a filter using a resonant inverter structure will also be presented. The following papers will be presented.

  1. Multi-Band Bandpass Filters with Multiple Levels of Transfer-Function Reconfigurability (10:10 - 10:30).
  2. A Tunable Coaxial Filter with Minimum Variations in Absolute Bandwidth and Q Using a Single Tuning Element (10:30 - 10:50).
  3. A 2.2–3.4GHz Constant Bandwidth High-Selectivity Tunable Filter Based on Dual-Mode SIW Resonators (10:50-11:10).
  4. Miniaturized Reconfigurable Dual-Band Bandstop Filter with Independent Stopband Control Using Folded Ridged Quarter-Mode Substrate Integrated Waveguide (11:10-11:30).
  5.  A Programmable Bandpass Filter with Simultaneously Reconfigurable Working Frequency and Bandwidth (11:30-11:50).

Abstract: In this session, a filter synthesis-based frequency dependent coupling scheme for dual-band filters in presented. A multi-band differential bandpass filter using common-mode suppression for higher stopband rejection and a multi-band bandpass filter design using a reflected group delay method are featured. Next, an absorptive filter using a complementary duplexer is introduced for a negative group delay response. Finally, a substrate integrated waveguide (SIW) filter is described, giving size reduction for mm-wave applications. The following papers will be presented.
