Bird Introduces Low Cost, Rugged Handheld Spectrum Analyzers up to 6 GHz

Bird has expanded it’s SignalHawk family of rugged, handheld spectrum analyzers with the addition of SH-60S-AOA and SH-60S-TC, offering a balance of price and performance up to a frequency range of 6 GHz. The new spectrum analyzers provide test coverage for all major wireless systems in an easy-to-use, fully portable test instrument.

Leveraging multi-touch technology, the user can change the reference level and center frequency with the touch of a finger. These spectrum analyzers have a feature of zooming, just like in smartphones. Multi-task measurements are made easy with the ability to simultaneously review several windows for comparison. Their 8 GB of internal storage enables the user to take screenshots of data and transfer the same via USB/OTG/WIFI/Bluetooth to the cloud and email or upload it to a PC for reference. Bird’s New Handheld Spectrum Analyzer family saves time, provides high precision and accuracy with ease of use.

The SH-60S-TC is a compact hand-held spectrum analyzer that operates from 9 kHz to 6 GHz. The user interface of the analyzer has been built on Android making it easy to use. The analyzer has a resolution bandwidth of up to 5 MHz with a sweep time of 1.1 ms. It has a high-resolution, full-color display for indoor or outdoor viewing. The analyzer has been developed for field engineers, technicians, wireless equipment manufacturers, service providers, contractors, tower erectors and military field personnel.

The SH-60S-AOA extends the capability of SH-60S-TC by adding the ability to triangulate the location of an interferer on a map for signals between 9 kHz and 6 GHz. Triangulation is a pivotal move in spectrum analyzers by allowing the user to utilize the Interference analysis and triangular functionality to locate the source within 3 measurements, forming a triangle in the area of the emitter and utilizing a built-in map to find the exact location of the problem.
