New Broadband Surface Mount Capacitors for Wideband RF Applications

RF/Microwave passive components provider, Passive Plus Inc. (PPI), has introduced a new series of surface-mountable capacitors that offer resonance-free, low insertion loss, low reflection operation over extremely large RF bandwidths. The new BB Series capacitors have case sizes of 0201BB and 0402BB case sizes with capacitance values of 10 nF and 100 nF. They are available with Tin (RoHS), Tin/Lead or Gold terminations. 

These capacitors are intended primarily for coupling RF signals or, occasionally, for bypassing them to ground while blocking DC. The applications for which they are intended require small, surface-mountable devices that provide low RF impedances, i.e., low insertion losses and reflections, across extremely large RF bandwidths and temperatures typically ranging from -55 to +125° C.

Applications for the BB (Broadband) series are primarily found in the signal integrity market including:
  • Optoelectronics/highspeed data
  • ROSA/TOSA (Transmit/Receive optical subassemblies)
  • SONET (Synchronous Optical Networks)
  • Broadband test equipment
  • Broadband microwave and millimeter wave amplifiers and oscillators
