The MBX04 from Milliwave Silicon Solutions is a mmWave Mini Chamber that operates 18 to 95 GHz. It has been designed to fit on an 8 foot lab bench and measures 8 x 3 x 2 feet. This mmWave mini-chamber is suitable for 198 cm far-field measurements with applications such as radar, 5G (NR) mmWave, 802.11ad, 802.11ay and other proprietary mmWave solutions from 18 GHz to 95 GHz.
The MBX04 has 4 instrument bays to place a spectrum analyzer or vector network analyzer on one side and a signal generator or baseband board on the other side below the measurement deck. This configuration saves space and reduces loss due to long coax wiring that is usually required. Wiring of the device-under-test (DUT) is done with on axis pass-through channels to prevent cable tangling.
The DUT (max. size: 40 x 200 x 110 mm) is mounted on a laser guided 3D gimbal rotating platform which is controlled by a simple USB connection with software containing all the functions and APIs to run and plot a full spherical (or partial) radiation pattern with up to 1 degree resolution (64000 points). The output of the plot is a time stamped (.csv) heat-map file listing all captures positions and corresponding captured data. This heat-map file can then be post-processed for graphic rendering with virtually any mathematics and graphic tools available on the market.
