The AL-9013/AL-9205 from Microwave Vision Group is an EL/AZ/Roll Positioner that provides multi-axis rotary positioning of the DUT. It enables the rotation of a device under test around its phase center by means of a unique virtual elevation axis. This virtual axis ensures that the mechanical support system remains behind the DUT as it is measured. Simultaneously, a 360° rotation in azimuth is performed, with the combined movements resulting in a fast and accurate measurement of the radiation pattern, antenna efficiency, and polarization without interference from the positioning structure.
The positioner can hold a vertical load of up to 40 kg and has an AUT mounting interface with a diameter of 544 mm. The structure of this positioner does not contribute to interference on DUT measurement results and has a low backlash design. It has a tachometer for optimum speed regulation & control, precision bearings, and closed-loop servo control. This positioner has the mechanical support system behind the DUT which enables the rotation of a DUT around its phase center. This feature allows for testing direction-sensing antennas and maintains the center of the DUT in one place while eliminating scattering and interference from the positioning structure.
The AL-9013/AL-9205 have been specifically designed for testing direction-finding or radar antennas. Increasingly implemented in autonomous vehicles for collision avoidance while triggering automatic features in conjunction, these antennas can also be successfully deployed on mobile equipment such as forklifts, mining vehicles, or port machinery. They are also ideal for automated radar application subsystems, general-purpose positioning subsystems, far-field & near-field antenna measurements, and indoor use applications.
