The AWG5064 from Active Technologies is a 4-channel Arbitrary Waveform/Pattern Generator with a frequency range from DC to 6 GHz. It has been designed for mixed signal generation across four analog channels and can be used as a function generator, arbitrary generator, serial pattern generator, and digital pattern generator. This generator has a programmable sampling rate from 1 S/s to 6.16 GS/s (12.32 GS/s in RF mode) and an amplitude resolution of 100 µV. It generates sine, square, pulse, ramp, Gaussian, Lorentz, exponential rise/decay, and Haversine waveforms over a period from 10.4 ns to 88 s with an accuracy of ±0.1%. This waveform generator has spurious levels of -85 dBc and phase noise of less than -127 dBc/Hz (at 20 MHz offset).
The AWG5064 also generates digital waveforms such as NRZ bitstream patterns, clock patterns, PRBS patterns, and other customized patterns the user sets. It supports both analog modulation (AM, FM, PM) and digital modulation schemes (PSK, FSK, PWM, sweep, and burst (except DC and noise) with a programmable RF carrier phase value. This generator operates in three modes and uses an advanced sequencer that can generate up to 16384 user-defined waveforms, providing the possibility of generating complex signal scenarios with efficient memory usage. It supports up to 4 Gpts waveform memory per channel.
This waveform generator has an easy-to-use touchscreen display interface that allows users to create pattern scenarios with few screen touches. The built-in software architecture provides the possibility to easily generate the patterns in different generation modalities and modulate patterns with internal or external signals to generate different effects of noise (jitter, ripples, etc). It is equipped with standard Ethernet interface ports for remote control and easy customized instrument programming. The AWG5064 is available in a rack-mount enclosure that measures 445 x 135 x 320 mm with SMA connectors and is ideal for test and measurement applications. It requires an AC supply of 100-240 V and consumes less than 200 W of power.
