The MD8430A from Anritsu is a Base Station Simulator for LTE-Advanced chipsets. It has been designed for early chipset and UE development, function tests, and performance tests ranging from carrier acceptance to protocol conformance tests. It also supports fault operation tests, which are difficult to perform in connection with live base stations. This simulator has an integrated fading simulation feature, which reduces the investment required for additional hardware to perform signalling tests under realistic radio frequency (RF) conditions. It is the first LTE-Advanced signalling solution with built-in fading supporting the 4x4 MIMO downlink configuration.
The MD8430A supports LTE-Advanced Pro testing with 6CCs Carrier Aggregation (CA) and less with support for Dual Connectivity test and Licensed-Assisted Access (LAA) test. It supports 2 Gbps (DL) and 300 Mbps (UL) throughput testing and one MD8430A supports CA handover, 4×4 MIMO and 8×4 MIMO, etc.
With its software option NTN NB-IoT (GEO) MD8430A-043 and its control software option NTN over IoT Framework for RTD MX800050A-070, the MD8430A can be connected to an NTN device for GEO satellites. This makes it possible to test the connection with the NTN network and roaming between the terrestrial network and NTN network, among others.
