The WBUE-060G03 from Gilat is a GaN Block Upconverter (BUC) that converts input frequencies from 950 – 1700 MHz to output frequencies from 13.75 GHz – 14.5 GHz. It delivers a linear output power of 45 dBm with a small signal gain of 70 dB and a gain adjustment of 30 dB in 0.25 dB steps. This BUC is based on Gilat’s next-generation Spatial advantEdge™ technology that provides higher output power in smaller, lighter-weight packages and is more reliable using less energy. It has a phase noise that meets the IESS-308 standard, a maximum noise power density of -69 dBW/4kHz (Tx) and -150 dBW/4kHz (Rx). This BUC requires a DC supply from 22 to 32 V and consumes 245 W of power.
The WBUE-060G03 is biased for Class AB operation, drawing less power when backed off to help save energy. It generates less heat, ensuring a higher Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) for greater reliability and lower lifecycle costs. This BUC has an intermodulation of less than -25 dBc, spectral regrowth (for QPSK at 1.5x and OQPSK at 1.0x rate offset) of less than -30 dBc with an AM/PM conversion of less than 2°/dB. It can be controlled via Ethernet (TCP/IP, WebGUI, SNMP) and Serial RS-485 /RS-232 (SA-bus) interfaces.
This BUC is available in an enclosure that measures 32.3 x 14.3 x 8.2 cm with an N-type (female) input connector and WR-75 waveguide output interface. The WBUE-060G03 meets the MIL-STD-810 standard for shock and vibration and the MIL-STD-461 standard for electromagnetic compatibility. It is ideal for use in mobile SATCOM, flyaway, and VSAT system applications.
