The STS20/40Ka from SpacePath Communications is a solid-state Block Up Converter (BUC) that converts input frequencies from 950-1950 MHz to output frequencies from 27-31 GHz. It provides more than 60 dB of gain with a gain adjustment range of 20 dB. This BUC has a phase noise of 93 dBc/Hz (at 100 kHz offset) and spurious levels of less than -55 dBc. This BUC benefits from the Quad-Band/Quad LO allowing complete coverage of the commercial and military Ka Band in a single unit. It has excellent RF performance characteristics, an RF sample port, true RMS power measurements, and extensive monitor and control capabilities enabled via Ethernet, Serial, and/or Analogue interfaces. The BUC requires an AC supply from 90 to 265 V (auto-ranging) and a DC supply from 36 to 75 V (isolated, other options available upon request).
This BUC has been designed for portable, mobile, and VSAT on-the-move applications. Its small size/weight and high thermal efficiency make it the most economical solution for fixed VSAT applications. It is available in an enclosure that measures 23 x 13.75 x 10 cm and has N-type (female) connectors and a WR28 grooved waveguide output interface.
