The WBAN-050G01-0005 from Wavestream is a Block Upconverter that converts an input IF signal from 950 MHz - 1950 MHz to output RF frequencies from 27.5 - 28.5 GHz, 28.25 - 29.25 GHz, and 29.0 - 30.0 GHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 47 dBm with a small signal gain of 62.5 dB in 0.25 dB steps. The BUC uses the patented Spatial advantEdge™ technology which allows the generation of higher output power in lighter, more compact product packages that use less energy. This ensures a higher Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) for greater reliability. It operates on GEO, MEO, and LEO Ka-Band satellites.

The WBAN-050G01-0005 has a Tx noise power density of under -75 dBm/Hz and Rx noise power density of less than -156 dBm/Hz. It has a phase noise of -92 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset and output spurious levels of -60 dBc. The BUC requires a DC supply from 20 to 56 W and consumes under 360 W of power. It is designed to operate in extreme environments and offers field-proven reliability to support demanding satellite communications applications.

The WBAN-050G01-0005 includes L-band to Ka-band upconversion, serial/Ethernet monitor and control, adjustable attenuation, and forward and reverse output power monitoring. It is available in an enclosure that measures 30.5 x 17.8 x 16.5 cm with an N-type (female) input connector and WR-28 output interface. The BUC can be mounted directly onto the feed arm of medium aperture antennas.
