The HL7812 from Sierra Wireless is an LTE-M/NB-IoT LPWA Module for global Industrial IoT applications. It is based on 3GPP Release 14 specification and offers the best-in-class performance from the edge to the cloud with support for 2G fallback (GSM and GPRS). This module uses Sierra’s wireless smart connectivity to reduce the total cost of ownership, strengthen end-to-end security, and simplify operations with a single point of accountability and management platform. It delivers a data rate of 1100 Kbps (Cat-M)/158 Kbps (Cat-NB2) in the uplink and 590 Kbps (Cat-M)/127 Kbps (Cat-NB2) in the downlink. This module is designed for global battery-powered or low-power deployment applications.
The HL7812 supports Band 8 with network access device (NAD) capability that enables utilities in the US to deploy their down 900 MHz private network. It includes an integrated GNSS receiver with assisted-GNSS functionality which enables tracking and location-based services in the GPS and GLONASS bands. It has an embedded stack to easily communicate with other devices over the internet by supporting a rich set of protocols such as HTTP/S, TCP/IP, UDP, TLS, and DTLS. This module stores encrypted keys in its secure element for an added layer of protection from the edge to the cloud and allows users to upgrade firmware over-the-air for free, thereby ensuring future-proof deployments and security. It supports Linux OS with a standard ECM system driver and offers secure booting.
This module can be controlled via 1 x 8-wire UART, USB, ADC, and GPIO interfaces and integrates a Tx ON indicator to provide status indications. It is available in a Land Grid Array (LGA) package that measures 15.0 x 18.0 x 2.4 mm and has received FCC, IC, PTCRB, GCF, RCM, CE, and JRF/JPA carrier certification approvals.
