The R&S TS-LBS from Rohde & Schwarz is a Fully Automated Conformance Test System that is designed for GNSS and network-based Location Based Services (LBS) testing. It is based on an all-in-one test solution that provides complete LBS test coverage from R&D through conformance and fulfills all requirements for LBS development, conformance, and carrier acceptance testing for GSM, WCDMA, and LTE devices. This system consists of a flexible, multi-technology R&S CMW500 network emulator and the R&S SMBV100A GNSS simulator at the core, thereby making it a scalable solution that can be adapted to any LBS test application. It integrates record-and-replay solutions to simplify and efficiently capture complex, real-world GNSS RF signal scenarios and replays them in the lab with high fidelity which greatly saves both travel and engineering costs and reduces test time.
The R&S TS-LBS supports validated protocol conformance and minimum performance test cases in the design, precertification, and type approval environments. It provides test capabilities for protocol conformance and minimum performance testing A-GNSS (A-GPS, A-GLONASS, and A-Beidou) positioning technologies, cellular-based technologies (OTDOA/eCID), and support for all 3GPP technologies such as GERAN, WCDMA, HSPA, and LTE FDD/TDD. This system also provides protocol conformance and OMA SUPL 2.0 conformance testing that includes LPP, RRLP, and RRC, in addition to positioning and cellular technologies.
The R&S TS-LBS uses a flexible easy-to-use GUI to create and execute test sequences, loops, and test plans from test cases and also generate reports that the user can manage when desired. This integrated GUI offers parameter evaluation mode (PEM), margin search, user-defined scenarios, generic record and replay, E911 functions, and multi-functional logic analyzer, making it possible to configure the test environment as required for a given task. It also provides other powerful tools and functions such as test system automation, convenient online report generator, summary report generator, report manager and analyzer, and external database access to manage the captured and manage GNSS RF data in a central server in the company’s network.
This conformance test system is available in an enclosure that measures 465.1 x 352.3 x 517 mm and is ideal for conformance and certification testing, design verification, pre-launch evaluation, carrier acceptance testing, regression testing, benchmarking performance analysis, and R&D applications. It requires an AC supply of 120/230 V and consumes less than 350 W of power.
