The BANDIT 2x from L3Harris Technologies is a Data Link Digital Transceiver that operates in the L, S, and C-Bands from 1350-1850 MHz, 2025-2500 MHz, and 4400-4990 MHz. It is a low-cost, lightweight and all-in-one solution that provides wideband capability to a wide variety of applications. This tri-band transceiver delivers real-time IP-based, full motion digital video for situational awareness, targeting, battle damage assessment, surveillance, video broadcast, remote sensors, convoy operations, and other situations where high resolution video is required. It is also interoperable with other products using L3Harris standard waveforms and supports international waveforms (IW) with data rates of 0.75, 1.5, 3.0, 6.0, 12.0, 24.0, and 42.0 Mbps.
The BANDIT 2x is centered around analog frequency ranges, making this software-defined radio (SDR) a perfect replacement for analog links by adding better-performing digital signal transmission and improved security. It has a built-in solid-state power amplifier (SSPA) for boosting signal power along with support for IPv4/IPv6, Layer 2 switching or Layer 3 routing, and DHCP server networking protocols. This SDR includes FIPS 197 AES encryption for enhanced security and H.264 video encoding scheme (NTSC/PAL). It is equipped with RS-232 and 10/100 Base-T Ethernet interfaces for imagery and data transmission.
This SDR delivers an output power of 2 W (~ 33 dBm) in all the bands. It requires a DC supply of 10 to 30 V and consumes less than 35 W of power. The BANDIT 2x is available in a module that measures 5.05 x 2.85 x 0.80 inches and is ideal for group 1, 2, and 3 UAVs, munitions, smaller unmanned aircraft, and ground ISR/command and control applications.
