The SignalShark ADFA 2 from Narda Safety Test Solutions is an Automatic Direction-Finding (DF) Antenna that operates from 10 MHz to 8 GHz. It uses Watson-Watt and correlatives interferometer direction finding methods and can find a bearing within 1.2 ms. This DF antenna has nine dipole elements arranged in a large diameter ring (380 mm for the frequency range 200 MHz to 2.7 GHz) to give the basis for a stable direction-finding result. It can be attached to any commercial vehicle roof using the magnetic base for quick and short-term application and can be mounted on a tripod using the quick connector for long-term monitoring and direction finding. The intelligent localization algorithm and the heatmap display on the SignalShark (Analyzer provided by Narda STS) combine to give reliable and comprehensive localization results, even in urban environments.
The omnidirectional reference element in the antenna enables straightforward frequency monitoring of the entire receive frequency band. The signal additionally remains visible during the direction-finding process and even a channel change of the emitter is not hidden. Along with horizontal bearing, it also provides azimuth data to determine the elevation over a wide range. This direction finder has built-in electronic compass and GNSS receiver with antenna and PPS output. The SignalShark ADFA 2 requires no external PC, second or third antenna or any software to operate.
