The SC-06N from Microlab is a Directional Coupler that operates from 130 to 960 MHz. This 3 dB coupler can handle an input power of 50 W and provides a directivity of more than 18 dB. It includes an active, diagnostic technology for system monitoring – the SMART (System Monitor Alarm Report Technology) system – with failure detection and malfunction location capabilities. The SMART system is made up of a SMART gateway at the head-end and SMART couplers deployed in the DAS. Each coupler reports the VSWR at each port based on a calibrated CW tone generated by the gateway. It stores and compares the VSWR at each port over time and can report failures such as an open or short circuit. The real-time monitoring capabilities ensure that Public Safety DAS system integrators, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and building owners can depend on the operation of their critical communication systems.
The SMART monitoring system in this coupler requires a DC supply of 24 V and consumes 0.01 A of current. It is available in a module that measures 183.1 x 107.7 x 31.1 mm with N-type (female) connectors and is ideal for monitoring DAS infrastructure health (antennas, coaxial cables, and other passive components), public safety VHF, UHF, TETRA, 700, 800, 900 MHz bands, FirstNet Band 14 applications.
