The ADMV4640 from Analog Devices is a Microwave Downconverter that converts input frequencies from 10.7 to 12.7 GHz to output intermediate frequencies (IF) from 1.4 GHz to 2.2 GHz. It has an internal LO frequency range from 8.7 to 10.7 GHz, provides a conversion gain of up to 30 dB, and has a noise figure of less than 7.4 dB. This downconverter has integrated PLL and includes filtering to reject the image band of 6.7 to 8.7 GHz. It has an on-chip low noise amplifier that includes a 6 dB step attenuator before the mixer to allow the user to trade-off between a lower noise figure and higher linearity.
The ADMV4640 has an analog general-purpose input-output (AGPIO) pin that can be used either as an input to be read by the on-chip analog-to-digital converter (ADC) or as an output for internal analog proportional to absolute temperature (PTAT) voltage. It also features an on-chip temperature sensor. It can be controlled via 4-wire digital SPI and analog GPIO interfaces. This downconverter is available in a thermally enhanced LFCSP package that measures 6 x 6 mm and is ideal for SATCOM user terminal applications.
