The CNT-102 from Pendulum Instruments is a Dual-Channel Frequency Analyzer that operates up to 400 MHz (optional RF channel up to 24 GHz available). It is a new affordable model for multi-channel frequency and time-interval analysis in a bench-top unit. This analyzer enables users to track parallel frequency, phase or time simultaneously on two input channels on a large graphic screen and outperforms any competing timer/counter/analyzer on the market. It features gap-free measurements with a measuring speed of 1 million results/s while providing a time resolution of 14 ps and a frequency resolution of up to 13 digits/s. This frequency analyzer samples with a repetition rate of less than 300 MHz over a time interval from -1000 s to +1000 s and has a pulse width of more than 1.5 ns. It accepts a 1, 5, or 10 MHz reference at the reference input and also allows 10 MHz external reference output.

The CNT-102’s gap-free, zero-dead-time counting provides back-to-back time-stamped measurements without losing any cycle, even for very long measurements. It enables high bus speed to reduce test time in automated test equipment (ATE) test systems and performs fast block measurements up to 170 k measurements/s. This analyzer can be configured to fit performance demands and/or budget by adding an additional channel C for RF frequency measurements. It also allows choice of 3 timebase oscillator options – TCXO and 2 OCXOs with an optional 0.5 Hz to 100 MHz pulse generator. The CNT-102 supports modulation domain analysis of schemes such as FM, FSK, BPSK, PWM, PPM, and other time, phase, or frequency modulation techniques by displaying frequency changes vs. time. It can be remotely controlled using a Gbit Ethernet interface or Wi-Fi dongle in the front-panel USB port to connect to any local wireless networks.

This frequency analyzer features a big touch screen with intuitive menus for simplified configuration via a finger touch. A wireless mouse can also be connected to the front panel USB host port to configure the settings via mouse clicks. The CNT-102 has web server functionality to connect to Ethernet, control the measurements, and read results via a few mouse clicks. It allows panning and zooming in graphs to view individual samples with cursor read-outs and any measured signal can be smoothed to reveal underlying trends in the presence of excessive noise. This analyzer requires an AC supply from 100 to 240 V and consumes less than 70 W of power. It is available in a rack-mount enclosure measures 210 x 90 x 39 mm.
