The APMSYN22 from AnaPico is a compact frequency synthesizer that operates from 100 kHz to 22 GHz. It can generate both CW and pulsed signals with an output power of up to 25 dBm and a phase noise of -132 dBc/Hz (@20 kHz offset, 1 GHz frequency). This generator has a frequency resolution of 10 MHz, an amplitude resolution of 0.5 dB, and a switching time of less than 500 µs. It has subharmonics and spurious levels lower than -55 dBc. The synthesizer has external reference support of 100 MHz and 1 GHz. It requires a DC supply of 24 V and consumes less than 17 W of power.
The APMSYN22 allows multiple units to be connected with one unit acting as the master and the others as slaves, to implement multi-channel phase-coherent sources. It features an Ethernet communication port for local and remote connection to a PC for control over GUI software or SCPI commands. This synthesizer is available in a flange-mountable housing that is 134 x 95 x 25 mm and is suitable for use as the system clock source, in multi-channel phase-coherent configurations for radar, beamforming, quantum computing, etc. The combination of phase coherence and fast switching allows also applications in the Electronic Warfare field.
