The CMX940 from CML Microcircuits is a low-power, high-performance Fractional-N PLL based RF Synthesizer. It has a fully integrated wideband VCO and a programmable output divider that generates signals from 49 to 2040 MHz. The synthesizer has two level-controlled single-ended RF outputs to support Tx and Rx sub-systems. A configurable reference path can be used to minimize close-in phase noise and mitigate integer and fractional boundary spurious.
The synthesizer operates over a supply voltage from 3.0 to 3.6 V. It requires only an external loop filter and clock reference to provide a complete and very compact RF synthesizer solution. The chip configuration is controlled by an SPI-compatible C-BUS serial interface. It is available in a highly integrated LGA-48 package that measures 7 x 7 mm, reducing component count and PCB board area and is suitable for applications such as PMR/LMR, wireless data modem, general-purpose RF and IF, and marine radio.
The low operating voltage and low power consumption of the CMX940 make it ideal for a wide variety of portable and battery-powered wireless applications, including digital narrowband two-way radio equipment compliant with ETSI PMR co-existence standards applicable under the Radio Equipment Directive.
