The QPM2101 from Qorvo is a Transmit/Receive Module that operates from 2.5 to 4 GHz. It consists of a T/R switch, a transmit path which is a low loss pass through, and a receive path consisting of a low-noise amplifier, a 6-bit digital step attenuator (DSA), and a driver amplifier. In the Rx chain, it provides a small signal gain of 30 dB with a gain control range of 31.5 dB (using DSA) and has a noise figure of 1 dB. This module provides a channel isolation of 35 dB and has a channel switching response time of 43 ns. It is fabricated on Qorvo's GaAs 0.25um process and is designed for S-band phased array radar applications.
The QPM2101 requires a DC supply of 3.3 V and consumes 163 mA of current. All functional MMIC blocks can be enabled, or DC powered off with internal control circuitry and all control signals use CMOS-compatible logic. It is available in a surface-mount QFN package that measures 7 x 7 mm and is ideal for use in commercial and military radar, electronic warfare, and communications applications.
