The SKY85809-11 from Skyworks is a 2.4/5 GHz WLAN Front End Module with support for Bluetooth. It is a complete 2.4 / 5 GHz WLAN RF solution, from the output of the transceiver to the antenna in an ultra-compact form factor. This FEM has integrated 2.4 and 5 GHz power amplifiers (PA), filtering, power detector, transmit/receive (T/R) switch, diplexer, and associated matching. It also features an integrated logarithmic power detector for each transmits chain. The module has local oscillator (LO) filters for the 2 GHz and 5 GHz transmit paths. It requires a DC supply of 5 V and consumes less than 1 µA of current in sleep mode.
The SKY85809-11 supports Bluetooth and 5 GHz Wi-Fi concurrent operation. It is designed to meet the stringent linearity conditions of the 802.11ac standard and delivers less than 2% error vector magnitude (EVM) at the rated alternating current (AC) power. This FEM includes a transmitter power detector with +20 dB of dynamic range for each transmits chain. Each power amplifier has a separate digital enable control for the transmitter on/off control and the power ramp rise/fall time is less than 0.5 µs.
The SKY85809-11 is available in a QFN package that measures 4.0 x 3.0 x 0.6 mm and is ideal for use in IEEE802.11b (DSSS), IEEE802.11a/g (OFDM), IEEE802.11ac/n, set-top boxes, access points, PCMCIA cards and PC card applications.
