The A55-MH038 from Akon is a 12-bit Digital Frequency Discriminator (DFD) that operates from 2 to 18 GHz. It consists of an input bandpass filter (BPF) to eliminate out-of-band signals producing false output and a limiting amplifier. The BPF provides an out-of-band rejection of up to 60 dB while the limiting amplifier provides a small signal gain of up to 80 dB. This DPD has a dynamic range from -59 to +5 dBm and a noise figure of 6 dB (including the BPF). It has a sensitivity of -59 dBm, a frequency accuracy of 5 MHz (RMS), and a frequency resolution of 4 MHz (with 12 bits). This DFD can be externally triggered by a negative pulse (pulse width – 50 ns). It requires a negative DC supply of ±9 V or +12 V and consumes less than 2 A of current. This frequency discriminator is available in a module that measures 8.0 x 5.9 x 1.3 inches with SMA (female) connectors.
