The AM9017 from Atlanta Micro is a Miniature Tuner Module that operates from 0.1 to 18 GHz. It is a fully integrated mini-module that comprises of MMIC and MCM devices and is designed for high performance and low size, weight, and power (low SWaP) applications. This super-heterodyne tuner module provides a gain of 8 dB, has a noise figure of 15 dB and a tuning speed of 100 µs. It has an analog IF output frequency centered at 1 GHz with a 500 MHz bandwidth. The module provides IF rejection of more than 70 dB and has a phase noise of -132 dBc/Hz @ 10 MHz offset. It requires a DC supply of 3.3/5 V and consumes 3.7 W of power.
The AM9017 includes sub-octave preselectors, pre-amplifiers, local oscillators, frequency converters, power and control line filtering, a temperature sensor and a control FPGA. It allows multiple tuner sets to be configured to work together for coherent operation and N-channel applications. The module enables interfacing by simply providing an RF input, DC voltages, frequency reference, SPI control, and routing the IF output. It is available in an enclosure that measures 35.1 x 68.2 x 6.7 mm and can be easily mounted to a host circuit board for use in multi-channel receiver applications.
