The BDCKUFIXEDLO from Orbital Research is a Ku-Band Block Down Converter (BDC) that converts an input RF frequency from 10.7-12.75 GHz to an output IF frequency from 950-3000 MHz. It provides a gain from 20 to 45 dB in 5 dB steps and has a noise figure of 10 dB. The BDC has a fixed local oscillator and has an output bandwidth of up to 2.05 GHz. It has a phase noise of -112 dBc/Hz @ 10 MHz offset and supports high data throughput with very low bit error rates (BER). The BDC requires a DC supply of 16-26 V and consumes less than 280 mA of current.
Unlike an LNB, this BDC is used after an external low noise amplifier (LNA). This means that users can connect multiple BDCs to a single LNA without affecting the noise figure of the system. The BDCKUFIXEDLO is available in a module with SMA connector at the input and N-type/SMA connector at the output. It is ideal for military, large hub antennas, earth stations, commercial, and SATCOM applications.
