The SSPA 7.5-10.0-1000 from Aethercomm is a GaN Solid-State Power Amplifier that operates from 7.5 to 10 GHz. It delivers an output power of up to 1 kW and has a composite power added efficiency (PAE) of 25-30%. This space-qualified amplifier can be blanked ON and OFF in less than 2.0 uSec. It can be used for space-based sensors and is designed for five-year mission life. The SSPA adheres to all the shock and vibration requirements to lift and survive in space. It is suitable for use in space or airborne applications.
The SSPA 7.5-10.0-1000 includes standard features such as reverse polarity protection, output short and open circuit protection, and over/under voltage protection. Temperature is monitored and reported by this module along with many other health parameters. The amplifier requires a DC supply of 28 V. It is available in an enclosure that measures 4.6 x 10.9 x 2.0 inches with an SMA-female input connector and WR-90 waveguide output interface. This SSPA is optimized for high altitude operation along with high-performance shock and vibration to include LEO flight. It has an operating temperature range from –40°C to +85°C.
