The HMC8500 from Analog Devices is a GaN power amplifier that operates from 0.01 GHz to 2.8 GHz. It delivers an output power of more than 10 W, a gain of 16 dB with a 55% power added efficiency (PAE). The device requires a power supply of 28 V and consumes up to 100 mA of current. It is available in a 32-lead, LFCSP package that measures 5 x 5 mm and is ideal for pulsed or continuous wave (CW) applications, such as wireless infrastructure, radars, public mobile radios, and general-purpose amplification. The amplifier is externally tuned using low cost, surface-mount components.
