The 1000A400 from AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation is a Solid-State Power Amplifier that operates from 10 kHz to 400 MHz. This self-contained, air-cooled amplifier, when used with an RF sweep generator, provides more than 1000 watts of power with a gain of over 60 dB. It has a Digital Control Panel (DCP) from where the gain and power level can be controlled. The DCP uses a color LCD touch screen display to indicate the operating status and fault conditions if an over-temperature or power supply fault has occurred.
The 1000A400 is protected from RF input overdrive by an input leveling circuit which controls the RF input level to the amplifier first stage when the input level is increased above 0 dBm. The amplifier stages are protected from over-temperature by removing the DC voltage to them if an over-temperature condition occurs due to cooling blockage or fan failure. All amplifier control functions and status indications can also be viewed/controlled remotely using the GPIB/IEEE-488 format, RS-232, fiber optics, USB, and Ethernet. The bus interface connector is located on the back panel and positive control of the local or remote operation is assured by a local/remote switch on the front panel of the amplifier. The safety interlock circuit along with the remote switch prevents the amplifier from going into operating mode unless the external connection is made. A jumper plug is provided for cases where this functionality is not needed. Optional RF sample ports are available to allow for any forward and reverse power monitoring.
This amplifier has been designed for applications where instantaneous bandwidth, high gain, and linearity are required. The 1000A400 is available in a single equipment rack that measures 22.1 x 38.5 x 32.5 inches with an N-type female connector at the input and a type 7-16 DIN female connector at the output.
