The 50W1000D from AR RF/Microwave Instrumentation is a Solid-Solid Power Amplifier that operates from 50 to 1000 MHz. This self-contained, air-cooled, broadband amplifier when used with a sweep generator, provides 70 W of output power with a gain of over 48 dB. It is protected from RF input overdrive by an input leveling circuit which controls the RF input level to the amplifier first stage when the input level is increased above 0 dBm. The amplifier stages are protected from over-temperature by removing the DC voltage to them if an over-temperature condition occurs due to cooling blockage or fan failure. The front panel indicates the operating status and fault conditions if an over-temperature or power supply fault has occurred. The unit can be returned to operate when the condition has been cleared.
All amplifier control functions and status indications can also be viewed/controlled remotely using the GPIB/IEEE-488 format, RS-232, fiber optics, USB, and Ethernet. The bus interface connector is located on the back panel and positive control of the local or remote operation is assured by a local/remote switch on the front panel of the amplifier. The safety interlock circuit along with the remote switch prevents the amplifier from going into operating mode unless the external connection is made. A jumper plug is provided for cases where this functionality is not needed.
This CE and RoHS-compliant amplifier is available in a contemporary cabinet (19.8 x 6.1 x 21.7 in) for benchtop use or with the removed cabinet (19 x 5.2 x 21.7 in) for rack mounting with N-type (F) connectors. It has been designed for applications where instantaneous bandwidth, high gain, and linearity are required. The export classification for this equipment is EAR99.
