The BVA518C from BeRex is a Variable Gain Amplifier that operates from 5 to 4000 MHz. It consists of an integrated high-performance digital step attenuator and high-performance InGaP/GaAs HBT MMIC amplifier. The variable gain amplifier provides a gain of up to 20 dB with a noise figure of 5.3 dB and has an output P1dB of 20 dBm. It has an integrated 6-bit digital step attenuator (DSA) that provides attenuation levels from 0 to 31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps and has a switching time of 800 ns.
This amplifier module features a patented temperature compensation circuit to provide stable current over the operating temperature range, and a patented over-voltage protection circuit to protect the internal devices. It requires a single DC supply from 4.75 V to 5.25 V and consumes 77 mA of current.
The BVA518C offers excellent gain flatness which is suitable for high linearity gain block designs. It can be controlled using serial, direct parallel, and latched parallel modes. This RoHS-compliant amplifier does not require external matching components owing to its internal matching capability. It is available in a surface-mount package that measures 4.0 x 4.0 x 0.9 mm and is ideal for microwave and satellite radio, 3G/4G/5G wireless infrastructure, and general-purpose wireless applications.
