The CMX90A003 from CML Microcircuits is a Two-Stage, Fully Matched MMIC Power Amplifier that operates from 860 to 960 MHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 29.5 dBm with a gain of 30 dB and PAE of 49%. The amplifier is based on GaAs HBT technology and requires a DC supply voltage of 1.9 to 3.0 V while drawing 70 mA of current. It is highly integrated for ease of use, minimising the external component count and reducing board area. The amplifier incorporates on-chip RF input and output matching as well as active bias circuitry and an input DC-blocking capacitor.
This 50-ohm amplifier is available in a VQFN - 16 package that measures 4 x 4 mm. The CMX90A003 is intended as a booster PA to extend the wireless range of sub-1 GHz low power RF transceivers. It is ideal for a wide range of applications including automatic meter readers (AMR), smart meters, wireless sensor networks (WSN), wireless modules, range extender, Internet of Things (IoT), 868 / 915 MHz ISM, and supercapacitor backup systems.
