The CMX90A004 from CML Microcircuits is a Two-Stage, Fully Matched MMIC Power Amplifier that operates from 860 to 960 MHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 2 W (~32.5 dBm) with a gain of 30 dB and PAE of 49%. The amplifier is based on GaAs HBT technology and requires a DC supply voltage of 2.7 to 4.5 V while drawing 78 mA of current. It is highly integrated for ease of use, minimising the external component count and reducing board area. The amplifier incorporates on-chip RF input and output matching as well as active bias circuitry and an input DC-blocking capacitor.
This 50-ohm amplifier is available in a VQFN - 16 package that measures 4 x 4 mm. The CMX90A004 is intended as a high-power final stage ISM band PA in wireless applications. It is ideal for a wide range of applications including automatic meter readers (AMR), smart meters, wireless modules, UHF RFID readers, final stage PA, Internet of Things (IoT), 868 / 915 MHz ISM, and Li-Ion battery powered systems.
