The K4U from Communications & Power Industries is a Klystron High Power Amplifier for satellite uplink applications from 12.75 to 14.8 GHz. It delivers an klystron power of more than 2.45 kW with a gain of over 77 dB.
This Multi-stage depressed collector klystron allows the amplifier to use less power and produce less heat than other K-HPAs. It employs a power saver feature to optimize K-HPA efficiency to meet the operating condition. Low temperatures are the key to longer lifetimes for klystrons and electronic parts. K-HPA MTBF is nearly 90,000 hours.
This amplifier has a large graphical log display with a wide viewing angle. Ethernet option provides higher speed connections, can update and coordinate all clock settings, and enables a snapshot feature where user can create a file containing all settings, alarms and faults at a single point in time. The system has a separate RF drawer that measures 483 x 445 x 711 mm and a power supply measuring 483 x 223 x 610 mm.
