The dB-3708P1 from dB Control is a Pulsed TWT Amplifier that operates from 8 to 12.5 GHz. It delivers up to 8 kW of peak output power with a gain of 60 dB and has a minimum duty cycle of 5%. The amplifier has a pulse width from 0.2 to 50 ms and a rise/fall time of 20 ns. It has spurious levels of -50 dBc, harmonics of less than -6 dBc, and is qualified for military airborne applications.
The amplifier uses a periodic permanent magnet (PPM)-focused, conduction-cooled TWT for power amplification. The high-voltage power supply (HVPS) section uses a modular architecture and low-noise power supply topology utilizing high-efficiency solid-state power-conversion circuits. A highly stable, solid-state modulator is used for pulsing the TWT Grid. It includes helix over-current/arc, cathode over-voltage, over-temperature (TWT and power supply), excessive PRF, pulse width or duty cycle, and phase loss protections.
The dB-3708P1 is available in an enclosure that measures 24 x 8 x 7 inches with SMA-female input connectors and WR90 output waveguide flange. It is suitable for applications such as airborne radar and EW threat simulation.
The amplifier requires a three phase AC supply voltage of 115 V (400 Hz).
