The 2225 from Empower RF Systems is a Solid-State Class AB Pulsed Power Amplifier that operates from 5.2 to 5.9 GHz. It delivers more than 90 kW of peak pulsed output power and has a gain of more than 80 dB. The amplifier has a duty cycle from 0.5 to 20 %, a pulse width from 0.2 to 500 μs at 20% duty cycle, and a pulse rise/fall time of 25 ns. It has a 2nd harmonic of -40 dBc and spurious of -60 dBc.
The 2225 is a multi-drawer integrated subsystem which features multiple high power GaN devices that provide wide frequency response, high gain, high peak power capability, and low distortions. Each drawer is a full gain PA with integrated single-phase power supply and liquid cooling. It features gain and phase control and is fully hot-swappable in case of failure. Drawers of amplifiers can be added/removed to achieve the required power level.
The amplifier system includes a built-in control and monitoring system, with protection functions that preserve maximum output availability and reliability. Remote management and diagnostics are available via an Ethernet port. It is available in a rackmount enclosure that measures 40U in height and 40” in depth with N-Type Female input and WR-187 output connectors.
