The Spatium™ QPB3238N from Qorvo is a Solid-State Power Amplifier (SSPA) that operates from 32 to 38 GHz. It delivers a saturated output power of 51.6 dBm (~145 W) with a power gain of 8.6 dB and an efficiency of 17.4%. This amplifier utilizes Qorvo’s market leading GaN technology and is an excellent alternative to traveling wave tube amplifiers. It combines a Ka-band MMIC design with high-count combining techniques for a best-in-class solution to power amplification and is an ideal building block for SATCOM BUC’s and other millimeter-wave subsystems with wide-ranging applications. The SSPA requires a DC supply of 24 V.
The QPB3238N is equipped with an integrated bias card for convenient operation, reduced electrical losses in the bias networks, and weight reduction over using a separate bias card. It provides individualized bias settings for each amplifier blade in the Spatium SSPA as well as drain pulsing up to 1.5 MHz PRF for improved power savings and noise performance. This SSPA is available in a module that measures 100 x 74 x 98 mm with 2.92 mm (female) input connector and WR-28 waveguide output interface.
