The SKY65900-11 from Skyworks is a Power Amplifier MMIC that operates from 2.4 to 2.5 GHz. It delivers a maximum output power of 1 W (~30 dBm) with a small signal gain of 34 dB. This three-stage amplifier has an active biasing circuit for all three amplifier stages, which provides excellent gain tracking over temperature and voltage variations. It also features an internal PA enable control pin for fast RF ON/OFF control and an internal load-insensitive power detector. The high linearity (low EVM) and high efficiency of this device make it ideal for use in the transmit chain of WLAN access points or modems. It has been characterized with the highest specified data rates for 802.11b (11 Mbps) and 802.11g (54 Mbps).
The SKY65900-11 requires a DC supply of 5 V and consumes less than 660 mA of current. It is fabricated using Skyworks' high-reliability heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT) InGaP process, which allows for single supply operation while maintaining high efficiency and good linearity. It is available in a 16-pin QFN package that measures 4.0 x 4.0 x 0.9 mm and is ideal for ISM band transmitters, wireless access points, routers, gateways, and IEEE 802.11 b/g/n WLAN applications.
