The SKY73090-21 from Skyworks Solutions is a Diversity Down-conversion Mixer that converts input frequencies from 1700 – 2200 MHz to output frequencies from 50 – 500 MHz (IF). It has two diversity channels, each consisting of a low loss RF balun, high linearity passive mixer, and a low noise IF amplifier. This mixer has LO amplifiers that enable it to connect directly to the output of a Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) and eliminates the extra gain stages needed by most discrete passive mixers. It requires a DC supply of 5 V and consumes 364 mA of current. The mixer also includes a power-down feature that lowers the supply current to less than 1μA for standby operation.
The SKY73090-21 is manufactured using a robust silicon BiCMOS process and has been designed for optimum long-term reliability. It has a conversion gain of 8.7 dB, a noise figure of 9.4 dB and provides an RF to IF isolation of 62 dB. This mixer is available in a compact 36-pin Multi-Chip Module (MCM) package that measures 6.00 x 6.00 x 1.05 mm and is ideal for 2G/3G base station transceivers (GSM/EDGE, CDMA, UMTS/WCDMA), land mobile radios, ISM band transceivers, high-performance radio links and RF identification applications.
