The 2-3954-100 from ARRA is a continuously variable attenuator/directional coupler that operates from 960 MHz to 1.215 GHz. This variable attenuator/coupler has a unique configuration - it consists of a directional coupler with a mainline insertion loss of 1.5 dB and a coupled signal that can be controlled by a variable attenuator. The continuously variable attenuator used on the coupled line has a 100 dB range which can be controlled using a knob. Like in all directional couplers, the mainline is isolated from the attenuated secondary line. This type of device can withstand extremely high power levels and may be utilized as a high power continuously variable attenuator with the appropriate termination on the mainline output. The 2-3954-100 can be used in amplitude monitoring loops, AGC loops and in mixer applications.
