The MTVA Series from Smiths Interconnect are Temperature Variable Chip Attenuators that operate from DC to 18 GHz. They are available in attenuation values from 0 to 9 dB in 1 dB step sizes and have a VSWR of less than 1.30:1. These attenuators have a temperature coefficient of attenuation (TCA) from -0.003 to -0.009 dB/dB/°C in 0.001dB/dB/°C increments with ± 0.001 dB/dB/°C variation. They can handle up to 200 mW of CW input power and 2 W of peak power.
The chip attenuators are constructed on an Alumina substrate with rugged thick film terminations and thick film thermistor technology. They also include a protective coating for added protection from various environmental conditions. Multiple attenuation values, temperature shift options, and mounting configurations are available to support both surface mount and wire bond applications
The MTVA Series offers a totally passive solution in a solderable surface mount package with tape and reel or serialized waffle pack and are ideal for amplifier circuits, transmit/receive the module, up and down converters, instrumentation, satellite communication, radar, and broadcast applications.
