The PE97640 from Peregrine is a radiation tolerant, fractional-N phase locked loop that can synthesize frequencies up to 5 GHz. This PLL integrates a selectable 5/6 or 10/11 dual modulus prescaler, counters, a delta sigma modulator, a phase comparator and charge pump. It requires a supply voltage of 2.8 volts while consuming 80 mA of current and has a very low phase noise. Counter values are programmable through either a serial interface or directly hard-wired. It is available in a 64-lead CQFP and is ideal for commercial space applications. The PE97640 has been developed on Peregrine's UltraCMOS process, a patented variation of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology on a sapphire substrate, offering excellent RF performance and intrinsic radiation tolerance.
