The Dual Loop PLDRO from Polaris is a Phase Locked Dielectric Resonator Oscillators (PLDRO) with an output frequency from5 to 13 GHz. It has a frequency resolution of 500 kHz and provides an output power of +13 dBm. The PLDRO has its phase locked to an integer or fractional multiple of the external reference using a PLCRO (Phase Locked Coaxial Resonator Oscillator) and frequency divider. It provides a good combination of ultra-low phase noise and excellent frequency stability when it is phase locked to a clean and stable crystal reference signal.
The Dual Loop PLDRO has a typical SSB phase noise of -132 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset (10 GHz frequency), harmonics of less than -20 dBc and spurious levels of under -80 dBc. It operates over a DC supply voltage from 12 to 15 V and consumes up to 550 mA of current. The PLDRO is available in a module that measures 57.15 x 57.15 x 27.00 mm with SMA-female connectors and is ideal for use in radar systems, VSAT/SATCOM systems, test equipments, microwave transmitters and receivers, cable TV links, up/down converters, LMDS, missile guidance and local area networks.
