The DARTS 9040-GT from dSPACE is an Automotive Radar Test System that operates from 23 to 26, 57 to 64, and 76 to 81 GHz. It is designed for the testing of automotive 4-D sensors and supports the development of radar systems that have to meet strict requirements on separation capability, making testing easier and more efficient in terms of effort and costs. This radar test system allows for the simulation of two targets with high precision and resolution by means of an instantaneous bandwidth that covers the entire 5 GHz of the automotive E-band. It simulates two targets based on the tried-and-tested DARTS 9040-G technology and supports separation tests for radar targets that approach from different angles or for targets that are located at different distances but at the same angles. This target simulator has a test range from 3.6 to 299 m in 2.5 cm steps and can identify targets moving at speeds of ± 500 km/h.

The DARTS 9040-GT has a range accuracy of 2.5 cm with a dynamic range of 70 dB and provides a gain of up to 20 dB. It can validate next-gen long, mid, and short-range radars that feature a high instantaneous bandwidth or frequency jumping. This system supports complex test cases that require more than one target with only one device and has improved ghost suppression compared to its predecessor. It is operated from a host PC and also supports remote operation via a control interface. This radar test system has a modular design, and multiple units can be combined to simulate the reflections of multiple objects, which can be used for traffic surveillance. The test system is suitable for the testing of automotive 4-D sensors, radar sensor tests under the influence of surrounding components, end-of-line testing of radar sensors, and radar transceiver testing applications.
