The SiO2 Series from Times Microwave Systems are Silicon Dioxide based based Semi-Rigid cables that operate up to 64 GHz. These phase-stable cable assemblies are designed to operate at extreme temperatures and in high radiation environments making them ideal for use in Space. Compared to other cable types, SiO2 cables provide exceptionally low hysteresis, with phase and loss values returning to the same values at a given temperature even after extreme excursions.
These 50-ohm cables are available in varying lengths, and their hermetic sealing allows the use of all types of standard connectors. The outer diameter of these cables ranges from 0.09 to 0.27 inches and they have a bend radius of 0.3 to 1 inch. The semi-rigid format of the cable needs to be pre-fabricated and supplied to the customer.
The SiO2 Series assemblies have a copper centre conductor, followed by a silicon dioxide dielectric, and a stainless-steel outer jacketing. They can operate at temperatures ranging from -273 to 200°C (with standard connectors) and provide EMI shielding of more than 110 dB.
