The SiO2-270 from Times Microwave Systems is a SiO2 based Semi-Rigid Cable assembly that operates up to 18 GHz. It is designed to operate at extreme temperatures and applications that demand high phase tracking performance making it ideal for use in space . This 50-ohm cable uses proprietary Silicon Dioxide (SiO2) dielectric, which does not cause an abrupt shift in phase due to dielectric formulation as compared to solid or tape-wrapped PTFE-based products.
The SiO2-270 cable assembly has a capacitance of 25 pF/foot, a delay of 1.27 ns/foot, and a velocity of propagation of 80%. It provides a shielding effectiveness of more than 120 dB and has a loss of 14.8 dB/100 foot. This cable has an outer diameter of 0.27 inches and a minimum bend radius of 1.080 inches.
It has an oxygen-free copper center conductor, followed by an ultra-high purity silica dielectric, and a 304 stainless steel outer jacketing. This assembly can operate at temperatures ranging from -273 to 300 °C (with standard connectors) and provide EMI shielding of more than 120 dB.
