The 60 Series SOM wireless module from Laird Technologies provides excellent enterprise-class Wi-Fi connectivity with full support for 2x2 MU-MIMO 802.11ac WLAN plus Bluetooth 4.2 dual-mode. It incorporates the Laird 60-SIPT Wi-Fi SiP module which uses the Marvell 88W8997/88PG823 chip. This module is also equipped with a Cortex A5 applications processor, wireless and wired connectivity, enterprise-grade security, LCD support, and comprehensive Linux board support package (BSP). It also supports dual-Ethernet and CAN bus for wired connectivity. The 60 Series SOM is available in a 30 x 30 mm package and can be used as a wireless bridge, main processing unit, or IoT gateway. This system on module may be integrated into a variety of host devices via many available electronic and logical interfaces. The 60SOM has a wide variety of interfaces including RMII, RGMII, serial UART, Hi-Speed USB, SPI, SDIO, TTL RGB, PCM, and I2C.
The module has Laird's newly released "Chain of Trust" architecture that provides layers of enterprise-grade security to protect from external threats. This architecture is designed with multiple layers of signing, verification, and isolation to ensure the device only runs trusted software and protects the host application from intrusion attempts. These capabilities along with FIPS 140- 2 certifications make the 60 Series SOM the ideal platform for wireless bridges, main processing units, or IoT gateways for medical and industrial applications.
