The Summit SOM 8M Plus is a Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.3 System on Module that operates in the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. It is powered by NXP’s i.MX 8M Plus processor and 88W8997 wireless silicon coupled with onboard NXP PMICs (PCA9450CHN and PM823UK), performance LPDDR4 RAM, and eMMC 5.1 storage. This module has storage options of 8 GB & 16 GB and can handle camera, video & encoding/decoding of up to 1200p at 60 fps and 4K at 30 fps. It includes a secure enclave for secure boot, secure credentials, and secure data storage including secure manufacturing and provisioning. This module has smart power management PMICs and can be controlled via USB, Ethernet (IEEE 1588), UART, I2C, SPI, SDIO, and CAN interfaces.

The Summit SOM 8M Plus includes a Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for machine learning with a processing speed of 2.3 TOP/s, a Cortex-M7 core MCU @ 800 MHz, 4 Cortex-A53 cores MPU @ 1.6 GHz, a Tensilica HiFi 4 DSP, GC7000UL graphic chipset with 2 shaders for 3D and GC520L graphic chipset for 2D. It is available in a package that measures 40.0 x 47.0 x 4.6 mm and is ideal for IoT applications.
