The xPico® Wi-Fi from Lantronix is a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi Device Server that is suitable for mobile M2M/IoT applications. This module uses Lantronix’s SmartRoam Technology to continually track Wi-Fi signal strength within range along with pre-authentication and caching for smooth and automatic transition to access points without delay. It has a QuickConnect feature with dynamic profiles to facilitate easy and rapid connections to access points. This module supports simultaneous Soft AP & client mode and has IEEE 802.11i Support (WPA-Personal & WPA2-Personal) and 256-bit AES encryption for security. It has an ARM Cortex M3 class processor with 1 MB Flash on-chip and 128 KB SRAM. The module requires a DC supply of 3.3 V and consumes 6 μA of current in standby mode.
The xPico® Wi-Fi can be utilized in designs typically intended for chip solutions. Its “zero host load” eliminates any need for drivers on the connected microcontroller making implementation easy and fast with virtually no need to write a single line of code. It can be controlled via two serial CMOS Ports (3.3/5V) with a data rate of 300-921.6 Kbps, SPI, USB 2.0, and GPIO interfaces. This module is available in a package that measures 24.00 x 16.50 x 5.64 mm with u.FL connector for external antenna.
